Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Cross into Uganda
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by your tour guide. You’ll receive a briefing about your safari before driving to The Travellers Guest House for an overnight stay.
On the second part of the day, you’ll embark on a scenic journey from Kigali to Kisoro on the Uganda border. This drive offers breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills as you pass through Ruhengeri in the northern part of Rwanda. You’ll continue to Chanika border, complete border formalities, and cross into Uganda.
Day 2: Kigali City Tour, Cultural Experience – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, you’ll begin your day with a Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Genocide Memorial, one of the many across the country. Explore the Presidential and Natural History Museums, followed by lunch.
In the afternoon, you’ll depart for Musanze in the north, known as the home of the famous endangered Mountain Gorillas. Later in the day, visit the Ib’iwacu Cultural Center to immerse yourself in authentic Rwandese cultural experiences. Overnight at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Twin Lakes – Return to Kigali
After an early wake-up call and breakfast, head to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefings by the Volcanoes National Park’s expert guides. You’ll be assigned to a specific gorilla group for your trek, which can vary in length. Spending an hour in the company of these magnificent creatures is a truly unforgettable experience.
In the afternoon, after lunch at the lodge, drive back to Kigali for your evening departure flight.
