Day 1: Bird Watching Safari in Entebbe
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our professional birding tour guide will warmly welcome you. After checking into your hotel and a brief refreshment, you’ll explore the Entebbe Botanical Gardens and the Uganda Wildlife Education Center. Here, you can spot a variety of bird species, including Common Ruff Wood, Madagascar Bee-eater, and more. You’ll stay overnight at 2 Friends Guest House in Entebbe.
Day 2: Mabamba Wetland – Lutembe Bay
Early in the morning, you’ll set out for the Mabamba Bay and its surrounding areas, known for hosting the endemic Shoebill Stork and numerous other bird species like the Reed Warblers, Pygmy Goose, and African Grey Parrots. Your overnight stay will be at 2 Friends Guest House in Entebbe.
Day 3: Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, you’ll drive to Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda, making a stop at the Uganda equator for some sightseeing. Birding in Lake Mburo National Park offers the chance to spot numerous bird species, including the Crested Francolin, African Fish Eagle, and more. You’ll spend the night at Mihingo Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Guided Walk and Boat Ride
You’ll embark on a full-day birding adventure within Lake Mburo National Park, searching for birds like the Coqui and Crested Francolin. After lunch, enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Mburo, where you may spot African Finfoots, pelicans, vultures, and swallows. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Safari Lodge.
Day 5: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a paradise for birdwatchers, home to about 350 bird species, including the African green broadbill and white-bellied robin chat. You’ll also have the opportunity to engage in Batwa cultural encounters in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Safari Lodge.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking
Today, you’ll embark on a gorilla trekking adventure to meet the magnificent mountain gorillas. You may also spot other primates and bird species during your trek. In the evening, relax at Buhoma Safari Lodge.
Day 7: Bird Watching and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Start your day with bird watching in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to 23 endemic bird species. After lunch, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Your overnight stay will be at Parkview Safari Lodge.
Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park boasts over 600 bird species, making it a birdwatcher’s haven. Keep an eye out for African mourning doves, martial eagles, and various kingfishers. You may also spot flamingos at the salt lakes of Katwe and Bunyampaka.
Day 9: Early Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise
Begin your day with an early game drive to see elephants, lions, and more. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, where you can spot hippos, crocodiles, and various water birds.
Day 10: Transfer to Semuliki National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Semuliki National Park, known for its 441 bird species. Enjoy a game drive in the evening and stay overnight at Semuliki Safari Lodge.
Day 11: Second Day of Bird Watching in Semuliki National Park
Set out for another half-day bird watching adventure in Semuliki National Park, where you can spot various bird species, including African piculet and purple-breasted sunbird.
Day 12: Morning Bird Watching and Transfer to Kibale Forest
Explore Kibale Forest, home to over 375 bird species. Look out for the green-breasted pitta and other unique birds during your bird watching safari. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Safari Lodge.
Day 13: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park
Embark on a thrilling chimpanzee trek in the morning. Besides chimpanzees, you may encounter other primates like Colobus monkeys and Red-tailed monkeys. In the afternoon, visit the crater lakes area and Bigodi Swamp for more birdwatching.
Day 14: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park
Start your day with an early morning game drive, then enjoy an afternoon boat cruise on the Victoria Nile, where you can see hippos, crocodiles, and stunning water birds. Dinner and overnight at Pakuba Safari Lodge.
Day 15: Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Kampala
Drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a rhino trekking experience. Later, return to Kampala or stay another night in Kampala at Fairway Hotel and Spa. This concludes your 15-day bird watching, gorilla, and chimpanzee trekking safari in Uganda.
