Wild Terrain Africa – 5-Day Gorilla Trekking Experience in Rwanda
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Upon arrival at Kigali Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Kigali for check-in. After settling in, you will have the evening free for leisure, with the option to explore the city at your own pace.
Day 2: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcano National Park
After a delicious breakfast, embark on a guided city tour of Kigali, which includes visits to the Genocide Memorial Center and the vibrant Inema Arts Center. Kigali’s remarkable development since the 1994 genocide and its status as the cleanest city on the continent will impress you. Explore the thriving art scene at Inema Arts Center and enjoy lunch at one of the city’s restaurants. In the afternoon, we drive to Ruhengeri, a northern town nestled at the foothills of the Virunga Mountains and the Volcano National Park, where you will dine and spend the night at our hotel lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking
An early breakfast at 6:00 AM precedes a visit to the park headquarters for a comprehensive briefing. You will be divided into groups of eight and assigned experienced rangers who will guide you through the forest in search of your designated Gorilla family. The trek could last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, culminating in the thrilling encounter with the gorillas as they feast on bamboo sprouts. You’ll have an hour to observe and capture this remarkable experience. If all goes smoothly, we’ll return to our lodge for a late lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy traditional dance performances. Dinner and another overnight stay will be at the hotel/lodge.
Day 4: Leisure Time at the Beach or Boat Ride
After a relaxed breakfast, embark on a scenic 2-hour drive to Gisenyi, a town bordering Congo and situated on the picturesque shores of Lake Kivu. You can choose to have lunch at a local restaurant in town or at the hotel. In the afternoon, unwind by the lake or opt for a boat ride on the serene waters of Lake Kivu. Dinner and an overnight stay await you at our hotel/resort.
Day 5: Transfer to the Airport
Following breakfast, we embark on a picturesque drive through the highlands and tea plantations of Rwanda. Depending on your international flight schedule, you can have lunch en route or in Kigali before we drop you off at the airport.
