Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Your extraordinary journey begins with your arrival in Kigali. Our driver/guide will warmly welcome you and provide a safari briefing. You will then be transferred to Kisoro, a border town in Uganda. This scenic drive offers breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, taking you through Ruhengeri in the northern part of Rwanda before reaching Cyanika. After finalizing border formalities, cross into Uganda, where you can enjoy a guided nature walk and visit the stunning Lake Mutanda, surrounded by majestic volcanoes. Take a leisurely walk along the lake’s shores before settling in for the night at Travelers Rest Hotel/Kisoro Tourist Hotel.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park
Prepare for an unforgettable day as you transfer to Bunagana at the DR Congo border. After crossing the border, drive to the Park Headquarters for a briefing on gorilla tracking guidelines. Then, venture into the lush forest of Parc National des Virunga in Congo for an incredible gorilla tracking experience. While in search of the Mountain Gorillas, you’ll have the chance to encounter excellent birdlife and other primates, including the Golden Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, and giant forest hogs, among others. Spend an awe-inspiring hour with these magnificent primates, observing and capturing photographs. Gorilla tracking can be demanding, lasting up to 8 hours in the forest, but the rewarding experience of coming face to face with these great primates is truly priceless. Return to Kisoro in Uganda for a well-deserved rest, enjoying dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 3: Return to Kigali
After a leisurely breakfast, embark on your journey back to Kigali in Rwanda. Along the way, make several stops to admire Rwanda’s stunning landscapes, capture photographs, and explore local markets for some shopping. Arrive in Kigali in the afternoon, where you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight to your next destination.
